Hi--- Nice to see original article ---but I do note an error made by the Milton Record...It states Mr and Mrs Thomas "D" O'Brien. My grandfather's middle initial was F---for Francis. Guess they couldn't blame it on spellcheck in those days. :) I know a newspaper marriage announcement I have of my grandparents also had an error. It lists Anna Beatrice as a daughter of Mary --not Hannah, so I guess typos were not terribly uncommon back then. Those errors do make things challenging in genealogy, however.
Also, to answer your question: My parents were married Saturday August 2nd, 1952 at St. Agatha's Church in Milton. I have the original invitation and plate used to print the invitations. Father Bennett J. O'Brien--- an O'Brien cousin--officiated at the Mass. Their reception was at the Quincy Neighborhood Club in Quincy. I have their wedding album and I also have the bill of sale for their hotel honeymoon---$16 per night-- including meals!! :)
Fr. Bennett--as he was known---also baptized all 6 of us ( and likely other O'Brien cousins) and he is buried in the West Quincy Cemetery too. I visit each year. He had 2 siblings-- Mercedes O'Brien--who held a high position, for a woman in her time, in the Boston School System. She lived on Morraine St. near Jamaica Pond--in Jamaica Plain for a time. The other sibling was Clement Lane O'Brien --- (their mother was Ellen Lane--which is where his middle name came from) Clement died as a small child---I think scarlett fever--- and Mercedes , who was naturally a girl at the time, but was the responsible older sister, was holding him in her arms at the time of his death. It left a lasting impression, as one can imagine. I heard the story often. I have photographs of Mercedes and Fr. Bennett---but again they are on the O'Brien branch, not the Cashman one. Just FYI--more than you requested, I know---but likely of interest to you too. Take Care---Claire
