Yes Donna Michael would be my uncle by marriage.... he married Carmela Mastrangelo.... Carmela and Mike were first cousins.... Carmela's mother was Giulia (Verrochi) Mastrangelo.... they lived with Mikes parents in Dorchester when they were first married... the problem is... I don't know Giulias aunts and uncles in Sulmona as she came to the US in 1903... she lived with her brother Emido Verrochi in the North End for a short time... after marrying Nicola Mastrangelo they moved to Rhode Island and had their first child a daughter Adeline *sp*.... after a few moves they lived at 191 Geneva Ave Dorchester... I think Michaels father Joseph must have been a brother to Guilia.... think the only way to settle this question is a trip to Sulmona.... I don't know if my dad who was also Nicola or Nicholas spoke with Lena, Theresa and Rose about how they were related... if someone in my family knows they aren't sharing!!!! So how are you related to Michael? I just remember hearing the news he died and my parents going to the funeral, he was remarried at that time after my aunt had passed much earlier... I would have to pull some paperwork but I know when my grandfather Nicola became a citizen if my memory is correct Mariano Verrochi signed his paperwork... also another name which I can't remember right now.... yup, we are all related!!!! Great to hear from you, please let me know your thoughts and relationship to Mike

Hi Donna,
No I have the original 1942/44 photos, my dad carried a small black and white camera through the war. Would be easiest to forward online. Usually my husband will handle as he likes to "clean them up" with different software while he scans. Just purchased a new printer so might be a few days until Joe can get it running.
Yes I am a cousin, actually 3rd cousin 1x removed, I should be on his DNA listing under shared ancestor hints. Don't know how that shows on your end as my tree is Private but Jay shows on mine.
Guessing you might have gotten some of your info for Jay's tree from my shared info (Francesco Verrocchi and Maria Presutti) as I have never seen anyone else post the same info. Remember back in Italy their surname would have two "c's" as the one "c" started when they came to the states.
This is our connection. Jay's mother is Rachel who is Lena's daughter, Lena is Joseph/Concetta's daughter. Joseph is the son of Nicholas. I don't remember off the top of my head if Nicholas came to Boston. I believe my dad was named after this uncle Nicholas. So, Nicholas had an older brother Domenico. Domenico stayed in Sulmona, but had at least 3 children on being a daughter Giulia (1884/1953) who immigrated to Boston in 1903. In 1904 Giulia married at St Leonard in the North End, Nicola Mastrangioli (1875/1926) also from Sulmona (changed to Mastrangelo in U.S.). Their seventh child Nicola Joseph (1917/2006) married Margaret Eileen MacGowan (1924/2008) and had a daughter Janet Julia (1955) that's me. I married Joseph Richard Dane (1951) and we have two children, Nicole Eileen (1988) and Joseph Richard Dane Jr (1990). Nicole m: Blair James Greene (1988) and they have Timothy Joel (2012) and Maddison Eileen (2014). Think that will cover our immediate branch of the family tree.
I think Rachel would remember my dad Nick, don't know if she would remember me as it would be many years ago. Do remember Lena and her sisters.
My grandparents Nicola and Giulia had nine children, 2 sons and 7 daughters, one daughter passed at 10 months the rest lived to raise families. Her second born, Carmella (Mastrangelo) married Michael J. Verrochi. I was the person who told you they were first cousins, but since doing Ancestry.com that is an incorrect fact passed down through the years. Michael J was a brother to Lena, Theresa and Rose. I believe that generation all grew up together for the first years that they all immigrated to Dorchester/Roxbury. My grandparents lived at 191 Geneva Ave Dorchester. My dad worked for M&C (Mike and Camella) on the ash truck before the war and that is how he met my mom. Think he also worked for Marinucci Brothers at one time know his brother did.
Sorry if I jumped around in this letter, anything you don't understand, please let me know.
Regards,
Janet Mastrangelo-Dane8/8/17
